Lula and Haddad's rally at PUC will be attended by Meirelles, Joaquim Barbosa, and Marta Suplicy.
The event is being praised by members of the Workers' Party as a great opportunity to engage street-level activists and widen the gap in the final stretch of the second round.
247 - A rally in support of the candidacies of Lula (PT) for president and Fernando Haddad (PT) for governor of São Paulo, next Monday, the 24th, at PUC will have the support of former Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Joaquim Barbosa, former Finance Minister and former Central Bank (BC) president Henrique Meirelles, and former senator Marta Suplicy (MDB), reported Mônica Bergamo, from FSP.
João Amoedo, the Novo party's presidential candidate in 2018, was also invited.
According to Bergamo, the event is being praised by PT supporters as a great opportunity to engage street activists and widen the gap in the final stretch of the second round. "In the assessment of an ally of former president Lula, the electoral event at PUC will not have the power to decide the election, but it could give the necessary boost to PT supporters to try to widen their lead over Bolsonaro in voting intentions," says the journalist.
The event was organized by the lawyers' group Prerrogativas, and interventions are being prepared by artists and groups such as Denise Fraga, Roberta Estrela D'Alva, Paula Klein, Ayo Tupinambá, Cia do Tijolo, and Charanga do França – in addition to projections by Caio Fanzolin and the groups SP-Código Aberto and Projetemos.
"Singer Preta Ferreira and actress Monica Iozzi will host the ceremony. The National Anthem will be performed by Fabiana Cozza and Renato Brás. A video invitation to the event was recorded by singer and songwriter Chico Buarque," according to the column.
