Rio247 – After the Supreme Federal Court (STF) suspended the point cut for municipal teachers in Rio, last Tuesday (15), the category has another reinforcement to ensure that its demands are met. Artists Caetano Veloso, Wagner Moura, Marisa Monte, Leandra Leal, Fernanda Abreu and Thayla Ayala signed a manifesto to be sent to the mayor of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PMDB) and ask that the manager negotiate with the State Union of Education Professionals of Rio (Sepe), responsible for leading the category's strike. The information is from the column of journalist Ancelmo Gois, in the newspaper O Globo.

The signing of the manifesto comes after teachers received another favorable decision for the category. Last Tuesday (15), STF minister Luiz Fux suspended the decision of the Court of Justice (TJ-RJ), which, on the 7th of this month, determined the cut-off point for magistrates.

On strike since August 8, teachers are demanding a new Career and Salary Plan, which was approved by the City Council on October 1, but, following a request from opposition councilors, the Parliament's decision was suspended. Last Wednesday (16), the TJ-RJ overturned the injunction that suspended the approval.

Next Tuesday (22), the minister will have a conciliation hearing to try to resolve the impasse between the Rio City Hall, Governor Sérgio Cabral (PMDB) and representatives of Sepe. The category has been on strike since August 8. Two days later, the category will hold a new assembly, at 14 pm, to decide the course of the mobilization.
