247 - The São Paulo Court of Justice postponed on Tuesday (22) the trial of military police officers convicted for their participation in the Carandiru massacre, which resulted in the death of 111 prisoners in the prison unit in October 1992.

The trial was suspended due to a request for review by Judge Edison Brandão, who stated he needed more time to analyze the calculation of the sentences imposed on the police officers.

The judges of the 4th Criminal Chamber, responsible for judging the case, believe there is no chance of the sentences expiring due to the statute of limitations.

The new date should be set soon, probably for early 2023. informs The Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.
