Andres Sanchez on Marcelinho's video with Bolsonaro: "The former player buys a jersey and does whatever he wants with it."
The president of Corinthians stated that Marcelinho has no formal relationship with the club. "He is neither contracted nor an employee of the club. A former player and fan buys a jersey and does whatever he wants with it," said Andres Sanchez.
247 - Corinthians president Andres Sanchez reacted to a video posted on social media by former player Marcelinho Carioca showing Jair Bolsonaro wearing the club's jersey.
“Do you think Marcelinho would ask me? Just kidding. He is neither contracted nor an employee of the club. Former player and fan buys shirts and does what he wants,” Andres told Folha’s Painel column on Wednesday (29).
Bolsonaro's video with Marcelinho seems like an attempt to repair his tarnished image with the club's fans after he refused to wear the same team's colors in a live social media broadcast where he wore the uniforms of other clubs.
The scene of Bolsonaro wearing a Corinthians shirt alongside former player Marcelinho Carioca, representing the partnership between the club and Banco BMG, was to defend a Provisional Measure (MP) signed by the government in June.
The bill, which became known as the "Football Provisional Measure," ends TV Globo's monopoly over the sport, nullifying rules that were defined in a previously signed and valid broadcasting rights contract.
