Allies of Flávio Bolsonaro see the dismissals at the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat as an attack by Tarcísio.
The removal of at least 14 individuals linked to Derrite increases tension within the São Paulo state government.
247 - The dismissal of allies of federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP), former Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, has provoked new tension in the government of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos). Allies of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) interpret the decision as a direct attack by the governor on members of the political group linked to Jair Bolsonaro (PL), imprisoned for his participation in the coup plot that occurred during the 2022 elections. This information comes from the newspaper... Folha de São Paulo.
At least 14 people linked to Derrite were removed from the structure of the Public Security Secretariat by direct order of Tarcísio, in a decision taken this Wednesday (4). For people close to Flávio Bolsonaro, the removal of his appointees from the ministry is interpreted as a sign of political rupture and even betrayal.
Appointment increases tension
The atmosphere became even more tense with the appointment of Colonel Henguel Ricardo Pereira to the position of Executive Secretary of Public Security. He took office on Monday (2) and is considered a declared enemy of Derrite. Before that, Pereira held the position of Chief Secretary of the Military House.
Formally, the current Secretary of Public Security, Osvaldo Nico, was considered close to Derrite, having acted as his second-in-command in the department. After the dismissals, however, the relationship between the two began to be seen as strained, according to reports from sources following the events.
Derrite keeping an eye on the Senate
Guilherme Derrite recently resumed his term as a federal deputy and is being considered a possible candidate for the Senate by the PP party. Last month, the party threatened to break with Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, although there has been a rapprochement between the two sides in recent days.
