247 - The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, visited the municipality of Janaúba, in the North of Minas Gerais, this Monday (10), to monitor energy infrastructure works that reinforce the state's role as a protagonist in solar energy generation in Brazil. During the agenda, Silveira highlighted the R$ 20 billion in investments planned for the state, part of the R$ 60 billion auctioned by the federal government in the last two years for the construction of transmission lines and substations.

Minas Gerais was the state that experienced the greatest growth in energy production in 2024, with 3,2 gigawatts (GW) added to the National Interconnected System (SIN). The state's solar potential is immense: one-third of the entire national capacity is located in Minas Gerais. "The sun that once so severely affected the North, Northeast, and Jequitinhonha Valley has now become a great economic opportunity and a driver of social transformation," stated Silveira.

Infrastructure for clean energy - Isa Energia Brasil is investing R$ 3,7 billion in the construction of over 900 km of transmission lines that will connect Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo, in addition to substations. The project, which has already generated more than 7 jobs, will allow the transmission of 8 GW of solar energy, boosting the energy transition in the country.

The Vista Alegre Solar Complex, by Atlas Renewable Energy, began operations in late 2024 with an installed capacity of 902 MWp, making it the second largest solar power plant in Brazil and the largest built in a single phase. The project, which received R$ 2,18 billion in investments and was financed by the New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program), has 1,5 million solar modules and is an example of the transformative potential of renewable energy.

Silveira emphasized that expanding Brazil's energy matrix, with a focus on renewable sources, has been a priority for the federal government. "We have been working on public policies to guarantee the expansion of our energy matrix, mainly through renewable sources, such as solar energy," he stated.
