In addition to steel, Trump also intends to tax Brazilian ethanol, and Tarcísio remains silent again.

This action could severely impact the sector, especially the state of São Paulo, which leads ethanol production in Brazil.

247 - The governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio Freitas (Republicanos), who recently wore a "Make America Great Again" hat in celebration of Donald Trump's inauguration, has yet to comment on Trump's attack on Brazilian industry, with a 25% tariff on domestic steel—which is expected to cause unemployment, including in São Paulo—and remains silent on Trump's new measures, which include increasing the import tariff on Brazilian ethanol from the current 2,5% to 18%.

The action could severely impact the sector, especially the state of São Paulo, which leads ethanol production in Brazil. However, Brasil 247 contacted the governor's press office again, which remains silent regarding Freitas's position on Trump's measures. The space remains open.

Aligned with the far-right, Tarcísio acted rashly in celebrating the victory of a US president who declared war on the world, which includes Brazil. His video with the Trumpist hat could cost a politician who dreams of the presidency of the Republic or, in the worst case scenario, reelection in São Paulo dearly.
