Wellington Dias: Piauí and Brazil have many more cases of coronavirus than have been reported.
According to the governor of Piauí, "when we take the US as a benchmark, they have around 200 confirmed cases of coronavirus, but Brazil has half the population. It's a fallacy to say that we have 5 or 6 infected people."
247 - The governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias, warned that the number of coronavirus cases is much higher than the numbers officially released by the Ministry of Health. “When we take the US as a benchmark, they have around 200 confirmed cases of coronavirus, but Brazil has half that number of inhabitants. It's a fallacy to say that we have 5 or 6 infected people. It doesn't make sense for a state like Piauí to have 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus,” he continued in an interview with Fórum Onze e Meia.
The head of the Piauí state government criticized Jair Bolsonaro. “To say that this is just a 'little flu,' that governors are scoundrels, is a war waged by the president against the governors, against the Judiciary, against Congress. While our number one enemy is the coronavirus, the president is waging war against those who are fighting the virus,” he said.
