Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) authorizes the deployment of federal troops for elections in Maranhão.
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved this Tuesday (16) the sending of federal troops to guarantee the tranquility of the October elections in ten municipalities of Maranhão; after a favorable statement from the state government, soldiers will help in the security of Alto Alegre do Pindaré, Barra do Corda, Benedito Leite, Fernando Falcão, Jenipapo das Vieiras, Nova Olinda, Santa Luiza, São Mateus, Santa Luzia do Paruá and Zé Doca
247 - The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved today (16) the sending of federal troops to guarantee the tranquility of the October elections in ten municipalities in Maranhão.
Following a favorable response from the state government, soldiers will assist in providing security in Alto Alegre do Pindaré, Barra do Corda, Benedito Leite, Fernando Falcão, Jenipapo das Vieiras, Nova Olinda, Santa Luiza, São Mateus, Santa Luzia do Paruá, and Zé Doca.
In previous rulings, the court has already authorized the deployment of troops to ensure the security of elections in 56 municipalities in Pará.
For Rio de Janeiro, the authorization was rejected. The local government understood that there is a need for the immediate presence of soldiers.
