Tragedy: Serious accident leaves 16 dead in Pernambuco
According to the PRF, the vehicle was carrying more than 30 passengers.
247 - A bus accident left 16 people dead and several injured on BR-423, between the cities of Paranatama and Saloá, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. The two drivers, who were alternating between driving, survived.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the vehicle was carrying more than 30 passengers and 15 people died at the scene, 11 women and four men. The tragedy occurred this Friday (17).
The bus entered the oncoming lane and struck rocks on the side of the highway. The driver returned to the correct lane, but collided again with a sand embankment before overturning. The stretch of road is known as Serra dos Ventos.
