Tragedy: Explosion leaves dead and injured after hitting eight houses in Pernambuco

247 - An explosion hit eight houses in the Ouro Preto neighborhood, in Olinda (PE), on the morning of this Sunday (19). There were 12 residents in the houses when the accident occurred in the municipality of the Metropolitan Region of Recife. Two people died. One of them is a man identified as Cláudio dos Anjos da Silva, 40 years old, who died at the scene. 

The second victim was José de Lima, 67 years old. He suffered severe burns to 90% of his body and was airlifted to the Hospital da Restauração in Recife, but did not survive. The Fire Department is still searching for an elderly woman who is under the rubble. The person has been identified as Luzinete dos Santos Lima, 69 years old, wife of José de Lima. She is wheelchair-bound. 

The search is being conducted with the help of sniffer dogs. The Metropolitan Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) stated that it has sent 14 vehicles to the scene. The causes of the tragedy are still being investigated.
