'We have one platform supporting Lula and another that doesn't openly admit it, but has a side,' says Marília Arraes about the dispute in Pernambuco.

"In Pernambuco, we are replicating the movement in defense of democracy. Whoever is with Lula is against Bolsonaro," said the candidate.

247 -Federal deputy and candidate for governor of Pernambuco, Marília Arraes (Solidariedade), stated that the country is going through a "critical moment of attacks on institutions and the press" and that her candidacy, which has the support of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), "reflects the field for the defense of democracy." "Today, my election and Lula's are one and the same, it's a joint campaign," said Marília in an interview with the newspaper. The Globe.

“We are living through a critical moment of attacks on institutions and the press. In Pernambuco, we are replicating the movement for the defense of democracy. Those who are with Lula are against Bolsonaro, and in the name of that, we have overcome political differences to show that Pernambuco also needs a national project, a local project that supports this recovery that we want locally with my election. We will intensify Lula's campaign. In Pernambuco, we are working with the prospect of an increase of 700 votes compared to the first round,” Marília emphasized.

According to her, the former mayor of Caruaru, Raquel Lyra (PSDB), her opponent in the second round of the state election, "committed an irresponsible act against Brazil" by stating that she does not support either of the two presidential candidates, former president Lula and Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“I consider it irresponsible of her to Brazil. The side you are on today in relation to the presidential race says a lot about the person, the manager, the citizen. How can a candidate say that “it doesn’t matter”? Does it matter between democracy and fascism? Does it matter between hunger and social injustice? Between science and death? But that’s her choice. I just think we need to be honest with the voter and show which side we really are on,” said Marília.

“Pernambuco is not an island. That's why we are nationalizing it, yes. There is an anti-people policy spearheaded by Bolsonaro. But, of course, we have our projects, such as the creation of the Poverty Eradication Fund, support for family farming, and community kitchens. However, issues like the construction of the Metropolitan Ring Road and the state's dams are directly linked to the federal government. You can't say it doesn't matter and have Bolsonaro's supporters on your side, as she does,” the candidate emphasized.

Marília, who according to Ipec research released on Tuesday (11) is in second place in the race for the Palácio do Campo das Princesas, with 42% of voting intentions, compared to 50% for the Tucana candidate, also observed that “the election is still far away and we had an atypical first day after the first round, due to what happened with Raquel (the death of her husband). Now a constructive discussion will begin with our feet on the ground. I know we will turn it around.

"People need to understand that we have a platform supporting Lula and another that doesn't openly admit it, but does have a side," he concluded.
