Rogério Carvalho on espionage against parliamentarians: 'The Judiciary needs to punish so that events like this never happen again'
The senator stated that, during the Covid CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry), he had denounced the illegal monitoring of parliamentarians who were members of the commission.
247 - Senator Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE) warned this Friday (2) about the seriousness of illegal espionage carried out by the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN) against parliamentarians opposed to the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The Workers' Party member cited the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Covid, which took place in 2021.
"During the COVID CPI, I denounced in the Senate plenary that I was being spied on. Today the press is publishing a list of spied-on parliamentarians, and my name is there, just as I had denounced. Now, let the punishments occur so that facts of this nature never happen again," the parliamentarian wrote on the social network X.
In an interview with 247, the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simon Tebet, and the senator Soraya Thronicke (PODE-MS) condemned the spying against opponents of the Bolsonaro government. On social network X, the senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) warned that members of Congress need to receive more information from the list.
