MARANHÃO 247 - The PSTU officially launched Saulo Arcangeli's pre-candidacy for Governor of the State. The party is now seeking to forge an alliance with PSOL and PCB. José Maria de Almeida, the party's national president, was in São Luís and also launched his pre-candidacy for President of the Republic.

Saulo Arcangeli explained that the PSTU's intention is to form a left-wing front with the PSOL and PCB. According to the socialist pre-candidate within the alliance, the other parties would have space for candidacies for vice-governor and the Senate. There are PSOL leaders who resist the alliance with the PSTU, and because of this, they launched the pre-candidacy of lawyer Luís Pedrosa for governor.
According to Arcangeli, his party is launching another candidacy because this is a way to raise debate about the electoral system and about state and national administrations.

"Our candidacy is a left-wing alternative for the state. It is also a way to raise awareness among the population, especially because we know what level we can reach with it," said Saulo Arcangeli.

The PSTU's pre-candidate says that the alliances of the left-wing front are based on projects with converging ideas, even though there are differences between the parties.

"We end up forming alliances with people who have different ideas. But this is overcome when we work with a project built from the convergences between the parties. In this way, we form a common program that aims to elevate Maranhão to positive levels," stated Saulo Arcangeli.
