247 - A police investigation was opened this Sunday (30) by the Federal Police to investigate accusations of racism made against a passenger during a Gol Linhas Aéreas flight that departed from Salvador bound for São Paulo last Friday (28).

According to a statement issued by the Federal Police, the investigation will "determine whether crimes of racial or color-based prejudice occurred during the forced removal of the passenger from Gol flight 1575 at Salvador International Airport/BA, on April 28th."

The investigation was initiated by the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Bahia and will remain confidential until the investigations are concluded.

A video went viral on social media this Saturday (29). In the images, shared by Bahian journalist Elaine Hazin, it is possible to see a black woman, venting inside a Gol airline plane, after having problems storing her backpack.

The complaint gained support from artists such as Manoel Soares and, in addition, Globo presenter Rita Batista, who gave visibility to the case on their respective profiles.
