Brazilian Federal Police launch operation against embezzlement of public funds in Paraíba.
Agents are executing five search and seizure warrants in João Pessoa (PB) and Taquaritinga (SP). The estimated loss is R$ 2 million.
Federal Police - The Federal Police, together with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, the Comptroller General of the Union, and the GAECO of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraíba, launched this morning, March 8, 2023, Operation THIRD STATION, which investigates the practice of crimes related to fraud in contracting, embezzlement of public funds, corruption, and money laundering in the acquisition of school furniture by the Department of Education of the State of Paraíba.
The contract was signed in 2017, and the estimated loss exceeds R$ 2 million. Five search and seizure warrants are being executed in the cities of João Pessoa/PB and Taquaritinga/SP.
The name of the operation refers to the Via Sacra, represented by 14 stations that reproduce the journey taken by Jesus Christ to Mount Calvary. The Third Station represents the first fall of Jesus Christ while carrying the cross, a symbol of sin and human depravity.
Operation Third Station resulted from investigative efforts and the sharing of some of the evidence obtained by Operation Calvary. The combined sentences could reach 39 years in prison.
