MST launches new weekly radio program in Alagoas
“The Hour of the MST” premiered last Saturday, the 6th, in the city of Olho D'Água do Casado (AL).
By Gustavo Marinho, from MST - Since Saturday (06) the MST has occupied another space on the radio waves. This time in the city of Olho D'Água do Casado, in Alto Sertão de Alagoas. The program “A Hora do MST” airs with exclusive programming for families camped and settled in the Agrarian Reform in the region.
Every Saturday, starting at 8:00 AM, the program airs on Rádio Casadense FM and promises to bring information and plenty of music to all listeners for an hour. The program will also be streamed online, extending beyond the municipality's borders with the Sem Terra na programming. website.
“It is a great joy to be part of building this program. We have a committed and involved collective to prepare all our programming with high quality and in the MST style,” explained Ana Paula, a resident of the Nova Esperança settlement in the municipality and presenter of the program.
In addition to Ana Paula, the program also involves young settlers from the region in its production, reporting, and technical team, who have been challenging themselves in the collective organization of radio broadcasting.
According to José Neto, from the national leadership of the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), the program will be yet another instrument for the movement to broaden dialogue with society and to keep families living in camps and settlements in the region informed.
“Radio is a hallmark of the culture and daily life of the people of the Sertão region. Having a program with the mystique and ideas of the MST is fundamental so that we can further engage with the population of the municipality, in addition to contributing to the information and education process in the territories of the Agrarian Reform,” he highlighted.
According to José Neto, the program is only possible thanks to the collective effort of the organized workers in the region who see the creation of the radio program as an important space in the current battle of ideas.
“Every Saturday we will enter the various communities, villages, settlements, and neighborhoods of the municipality, and this has significant importance, especially in this moment we are living through with so much uncertainty and bombardment of information,” he commented. “We will bring information, but also hope in collective organization to overcome our daily challenges, in addition to reflecting together on the reality and the issues that are urgent in our region.”
Produced by the MST's Communication Sector, the program "A Hora do MST" in Olho D'Água do Casado is one of several initiatives that the movement intends to build in Alagoas through radio communication.
