247 - The Municipal Education Department (Semed) announced that classes in the municipal school system have been suspended. The department cited threats of an attack made against the Raimundo Rocha Leal Júnior Municipal School.
"The Municipality of São José de Ribamar, through the Municipal Department of Education (SEMED), informs that it has suspended classes in the Municipal Education Network on April 10th and 11th. The reason for the suspension of classes was a preventive measure, due to an alleged threat of an attack on some schools in the municipality, through social media," it stated.
According to the secretariat, "the Municipal Guard and the Military Police were called in and are conducting patrols in the locations mentioned in the alleged threat, in order to guarantee the safety of the students."
Teams from the Municipal Guard and the Military Police began patrols to provide security to the school community.
Blumenau
The decision came in a context where attacks on a school in Blumenau (SC) caused national repercussions in the press and on social media. A man identified as Luiz Henrique de Lima killed four children in a daycare center last Wednesday (5). He was arrested.
