Public Prosecutor wants National Force on the streets of São Luís.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Maranhão also wants Governor Roseana Sarney to adopt measures to guarantee the safety of the people of Maranhão, such as the functioning of the Integrated Management Office, the transfer of prisoners to federal prisons, and support for the families of the victims.
Maranhão 247 - The Attorney General of Justice of Maranhão, Terezinha de Jesus Anchieta Guerreiro, delivered, this Monday morning (6), at Palácio dos Leões, an official letter requesting the adoption of measures by Governor Roseana Sarney (PMDB) to combat the wave of violence and guarantee the safety of the population.
The Public Prosecutor's Office's first request is for the immediate support of the National Force to address the emergency needs in combating violence. In the document, the Public Prosecutor's Office emphasizes that this measure is necessary given the recurring actions carried out by leaders of factions and criminal organizations, instilling fear in the population.
The operation of the Integrated Management Office, regulated by Decree No. 19.499/2013, was also requested in order to allow all bodies and entities with an institutional mission to guarantee public order to monitor the public security situation.
The third point of the document is the transfer of prisoners to federal prisons. The Public Prosecutor's Office requests the immediate transfer of the main members of criminal factions to penitentiary units under the responsibility of the Federal Government.
The Public Prosecutor's Office also requests that the State of Maranhão administratively promote all necessary measures to guarantee legal protection for the victims and affected families, including regarding compensation.
