Maranhao 247 - The strike by teachers in the municipal education system of São Luís completes one month this Friday (1) without any definitions about the end of the mobilization.

The teachers are requesting a 7,64% salary increase, an index corresponding to the readjustment of the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb).

Other demands from the category include improved school infrastructure, construction of daycare centers, quality of school meals and transportation, safety in school environments, and payment of wage losses from 2012 to 2016, which total 16,7%.

On the 8th of this month, the Maranhão court ordered the end of the strike, under penalty of a daily fine of R$ 100.
