Governor of Bahia responds to attacks from Rio Grande do Sul city councilor who asked wineries to hire "clean Argentinian workers"
"It's inhumane, shameful, and unacceptable," he said.
247 - The governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), responded, this Tuesday (February 28th), to the statement made by Sandro Fantinel (Patriota), a city councilor from Caxias do Sul (RS). The councilor from Rio Grande do Sul criticized the Bahian workers rescued from conditions analogous to slavery at a winery in Bento Gonçalves, in the interior of the state. The discovery of slave labor has received much attention in recent days.
"It is inhumane, shameful, and unacceptable to see that there are Brazilians capable of defending human cruelty. I have therefore ordered that appropriate measures be taken to hold the councilman accountable for his statement," commented Jerônimo Rodrigues on Twitter.
