Dino demands swift action on airport expansion.
The governor of Maranhão, Flávio Dino, received directors of the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero) at the Palácio dos Leões to discuss the chaos at the São Luís (MA) international airport, Marechal Hugo da Cunha Machado. Infraero assured that the problems have already been resolved and the terminal is operating normally; a short circuit caused a small fire on Friday night (17) at the airport and disrupted the boarding and disembarking of passengers over the weekend.

Infraero assured that the problems have already been resolved and the terminal is operating normally.
A short circuit caused a small fire on Friday night (17) at the airport and disrupted passenger boarding and disembarking over the weekend. Activities only resumed at noon on Saturday (18).
The Minister of Transport, Maurício Quintella, sent a team to Maranhão composed of the director of airports at Infraero, João Jordão, and the director of Engineering and Environment, Adilson Teixeira Lima.
According to Infraero, the airport expansion is expected to be completed within 90 days. "The airport is already operating normally. We are now in the second step, which is acquiring new equipment for replacement, and we will also hold a meeting with our team to accelerate the delivery of this airport expansion phase," Jordão explained after the meeting.
Adilson Teixeira said that the fire started in the capacitor bank and spread to the panels. "We are currently restoring all the equipment, the electrical system, the power supply, the lobby, and the terminal. This is being completed today. Phase two now is to restore the substation that was affected by the fire," he said.
