A visually impaired Lula supporter was attacked by Bolsonaro supporters on the Recife subway.
Attackers said voting for Lula is something for "disabled and black people," victim stated.
247 - A visually impaired man was assaulted in a subway car in Recife (PE), reported the TV Jornal Meio-Dia program. The victim was wearing a sticker in support of former president Lula (PT) at the time of the attack. Leonardo Bruno de Lucena, 43, was assaulted on Monday of last week, the 19th, but only filed a complaint this week.
Leonardo stated that, before being attacked, he received threats and was insulted by Bolsonaro supporters for wearing a sticker in support of Lula. "They told me to take off the sticker, saying that those who vote for him [Lula] are disabled, from the PT, black people, things like that (...) and they started attacking me," he said.
On social media, Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) commented on the case:
"EXTREMELY SERIOUS! A visually impaired man was attacked by Bolsonaro supporters in Recife. He was wearing a Lula sticker. This politics of hate needs to end. Reports of political violence continue to rise throughout Brazil."
