247 - On Thursday night, February 27th, Claudia Leitte was booed by revelers during the opening of the Salvador Carnival, in the Campo Grande circuit. The episode occurred shortly after the singer was called to the stage by Carlinhos Brown, who introduced her to the public. The booing took place amidst the controversy surrounding the alteration of a verse in the song "Caranguejo," which generated criticism from cultural and religious sectors.

The controversy began after Claudia Leitte, who has been an evangelical Christian for 12 years, replaced the expression "Saluting Queen Iemanjá" with "I sing to my King Yeshua," a reference to Jesus Christ, in the current version of the song. The alteration, which can be seen as an attempt to link the song to her religious commitment, provoked adverse reactions, mainly from representatives of Afro-Brazilian religions.

In response to the criticism, Salvador's Secretary of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Tourinho, made a strong statement on his social media, asserting that the change in the song's lyrics is a form of religious racism. "When an artist claims to be part of this movement, salutes Black people and their culture, reveres their percussion and musicality, achieves success and makes a lot of money from it, but suddenly chooses to rewrite history and remove the names of Orishas from the songs, make no mistake: that's called racism," wrote the secretary, although he did not specifically mention Claudia Leitte's name.

In addition to the boos and public criticism, the singer now faces a formal investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia (MP-BA), which is investigating her on suspicion of religious intolerance. Prosecutor Lívia Sant'Anna Vaz, from the Public Prosecutor's Office for Combating Racism and Religious Intolerance, confirmed this to [the media outlet]. Sheet that the MP-BA started the investigation after the show that took place last Saturday (14), in which Leitte changed the lyrics of the song, which generated great indignation among representatives of religions of African origin.

The singer has not yet publicly commented on the booing or the investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia.
