"Bolsonaro is inhumane, segregating, and vindictive," says PT congressman.

State Representative Robinson Almeida (PT/BA) criticized the Bolsonaro government's decision to allocate only 3% of new Bolsa Família program grants to the Northeast, while the South and Southeast regions received 75% of the new benefits.

247 According to official government data, of the 100 new beneficiaries, the Northeast received 3.035, while the Southeast received 45,7, the South 29,3, the Midwest 15, and the North 6,6.

The information was released this Thursday by the Estadão newspaper. According to the Bahia state representative, Bolsonaro is acting inhumanely and out of revenge for having been defeated in the last elections in the region. The nine governors of the Northeast are in opposition to the federal government. The Northeast concentrates 36,8% of families living in poverty or extreme poverty, a population in this category estimated at more than 3.758,4 million people.

“Bolsonaro is inhumane, segregating, and vindictive. He acts with perversity and reveals, once again, that he lacks the composure to occupy the highest office in the Republic of our country. In more than a year of misrule, he has only persecuted the Northeast because he was defeated in our region. It is important that the National Congress demand an explanation for this unacceptable fact, which exacerbates inequality and social problems in our region,” stated Robinson.

A report by Estadão also reveals that the state of Santa Catarina, governed by Carlos Moisés (PSL), an ally of Bolsonaro, received twice as much as the Northeast, despite having a population eight times smaller. “It’s clear that this is political retaliation, yet another one, by Bolsonaro against the Northeast. And this needs to be fought, since our region is the poorest in Brazil precisely because governments, before Lula and Dilma, turned their backs on the Northeast. But with Bolsonaro, this has been worse, and he needs to be held accountable by Congress and Brazilian society,” declared the PT member.
