The head of the Bahian Executive said that the government transferred an amount of money that, in practice, is equivalent to R$ 2 per inhabitant. “The states are having great difficulty obtaining supplies for hospitals, especially ventilators. The situation is very critical, with a shortage even of masks for healthcare professionals,” says the governor. “It’s impossible to understand this strategy from the ministry. Centralization would make sense to buy cheaper, but centralizing purchases and retaining them in the federal government’s stock doesn’t make sense,” he says.
