247 - In 2025, Bahia achieved one of the largest reductions in homicides in the last decade, consolidating a new era in public safety. The state reduced violent deaths by 10,5% compared to 2023, increased arrests by 28,3%, and seized R$ 6,5 billion from organized crime in large-scale operations.

According to the government of Bahia, the results are linked to a strategy based on technology, investigation, and integration between institutions. “We are showing that Bahia reacts with planning, integration, and focus. Our commitment is to confront crime efficiently, protect lives, and consolidate a security policy based on intelligence and prevention,” stated Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT).

Intelligence operations and significant results.

Among the more than 300 operations carried out, three stood out in October: Primus, Rota Proibida, and Brilho do Amanhã. All occurred without fatalities, reinforcing the policy of valuing life and investigative efficiency.

Operation Primus, launched on October 16, dismantled a billion-dollar scheme of fuel adulteration and money laundering. Conducted by Draco-LD, in partnership with the Treasury Department and the National Petroleum Agency, it seized R$ 6,5 billion in illicit assets and arrested nine people, including businessman Jailson Couto Ribeiro, identified as the group's leader.

Operation Forbidden Route, on October 27th, seized 250 kilos of drugs and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, dismantling an interstate drug trafficking scheme between São Paulo and southwestern Bahia. The operation represented a loss of over R$ 10 million for drug traffickers.

In the digital realm, Operation Tomorrow's Glow reaffirmed the state's commitment to combating cybercrime. The operation resulted in the arrest of a man caught in the act and the seizure of pornographic material involving teenagers, with international cooperation that included French authorities.

Prevention and recognition of security professionals

The government of Bahia structured its security policy on two pillars: the Bahia for Peace Program and the Qualified Action Plan for State Agents (PQuali). The first promotes actions for prevention, integration, and conflict mediation; the second continuously qualifies security professionals, incorporating new technologies and humanized practices.

These measures are already showing concrete results: the state has reduced vehicle thefts by 12,7%, bus robberies by 39,2%, and completely eliminated bank robberies. Between 2024 and 2025, there was also a 49,5% increase in arrests based on facial recognition.

Technology, efficiency, and the future of public safety.

Over the past two years, Bahia has hired 6 new police officers and firefighters, recalled 1,3 reservists, and inaugurated 227 security units. The state has expanded the use of body cameras, facial recognition, and vehicle license plate monitoring, in addition to creating the Corporate University of Public Security.
