Vigilante says Campos' death leaves a "political void" in the country.

The district deputy from the Workers' Party (PT) expressed perplexity at the sad coincidence of the death dates of former governor Eduardo Campos, in the midst of his presidential campaign, and his grandfather, the celebrated Brazilian politician Miguel Arraes, both of whom died on August 13th. Vigilante also referred to the "difficulty in fostering young political leaders in this country" in the struggle for the consolidation of democracy and the strengthening of the debate of ideas.

Brasilia 247- District deputy Chico Vigilante (PT) expressed perplexity at the sad coincidence of the death dates of former governor Eduardo Campos, in the midst of the presidential campaign, and his grandfather, the celebrated Brazilian politician Miguel Arraes, both of whom died on August 13th.

According to Vigilante, Campos' disappearance creates a political void, "due to the difficulty in fostering young political leaders in this country" in the fight for the consolidation of democracy and the strengthening of the debate of ideas.

See below the statement of condolence from District Representative Chio Vigilante:

The death of former governor Eduardo Campos, in the midst of the presidential campaign and coincidentally on the same day as the death of another great Brazilian politician, his grandfather Miguel Arraes, left all Brazilians perplexed.

The sorrow stems not only from whether or not he was running for President of the Republic, but also from his potential and all the services he, as a politician, was ready to offer to the Nation.

His disappearance creates a political void, due to the difficulty in fostering young political leaders in this country who, like him, were on the rise, fighting for the consolidation of democracy and the strengthening of the debate of ideas in Brazil.

I stand in solidarity with the family and his supporters during this difficult time, and also with the families of the two people who died on the ground, victims of the plane crash that Eduardo Campos was carrying. These are God's designs, which we can only accept.
