247 - Congressman Chico Vigilante, acting leader of the Workers' Party, commented in the plenary session on the plea bargain testimony of former federal congressman Pedro Corrêa, released this Wednesday, in which he explains the purchase of the reelection amendment during the FHC (Fernando Henrique Cardoso) administration. "Pedro Corrêa revealed the dispute between criminals, one led by Paulo Maluf against reelection, and the other led by Fernando Henrique against the reelection process," he commented.
According to the district representative, this testimony reveals the inner workings of Brazilian politics to the Brazilian citizen. "When we see the viscera of Brazilian politics, we feel disgust. It's serious," he commented.
The Workers' Party congressman believes that, even with all the corruption involved and denounced, politics, practiced with decorum and seriousness, is a good thing. "It's the only path to transformation," he assessed.
Chico also advocates for general elections at all levels, along with the formation of a constituent assembly exclusively dedicated to legislating on political reform. "To effectively clean up the country, a process of exclusive constitution-making is necessary to provide Brazil with a new political framework," he argued.
