See who Gustavo Gayer is, and who may have his mandate revoked.

The congressman caused an accident that left two dead and one person paraplegic and had problems with the law for failing to present a clean criminal record certificate.

247 - Federal deputy Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO), who may have his mandate revoked for offenses against three congressional leaders, had problems with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in 2020 for failing to present a negative criminal record certificate. Before that election, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás (MP-GO) denounced the Bolsonaro supporter in September 2015 for causing a traffic accident while intoxicated. He lost the municipal election. In 2000, he was also involved in an accident that resulted in the death of two people. A third person was left paraplegic. He lost the race for mayor of the capital of Goiás.

The Bolsonaro supporter could have his mandate revoked for the way he chose to criticize the federal government. Gayer mentioned three leaders - Davi Alcolumbre (president of the Senate), the Minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), and the leader of the PT in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) - see the statements of the PL congressman at the end of the article.

The Regional Labor Court of Goiás (TRT-GO) sentenced the parliamentarian in 2023 to pay R$ 80 for collective moral damages. The deputy was accused of electoral moral harassment during the 2022 elections. The TRT also prohibited the parliamentarian from leading or promoting meetings within companies and organizations with the objective of soliciting, persuading, convincing, inducing, or instigating workers to vote for any candidate.

The first complaint was filed on October 13, 2022, after the first round of elections. The Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT-GO) stated that the defendant was in at least three commercial establishments, soliciting workers to vote for a specific candidate in the second round of the presidential elections.

According to the MPT-GO (Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás), even after the complaint, the congressman went to another commercial establishment and repeated the same illegal conduct that was the subject of the investigation. For prosecutor Janilda Guimarães de Lima, author of the lawsuit, "the aforementioned elected congressman prefers to offer false excuses because he knowingly recognizes the illegality of his conduct, but does not intend to change it."

In 2024, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) summoned the congressman to provide clarifications after he was prosecuted following accusations of racism against the then Minister of Human Rights, Silvio Almeida, and insults against President Lula (PT). During an interview on a podcast in June 2023, the program's host, Rodrigo Arantes, compared the IQ of the African population to that of monkeys. The congressman agreed with the host's statement.

"Brazil is dumbed down. Then you take a voter registration card and give it to a bunch of dumbed-down people. Then you go to Africa: almost all the countries are dictatorships. Almost everything there is a dictatorship. Democracy doesn't thrive in Africa. Why? To have democracy, you need a minimum of cognitive capacity to understand good and bad, right and wrong. They tried to establish democracy in Africa several times. What happens? A dictator takes everything and the people... Brazil is like that. Lula became president and the dumb people were like: 'Yay, steak, beer!'"

The Bolsonaro-supporting congressman is a Brazilian businessman, politician, YouTuber, and digital influencer. In 2022, he was elected as the second most voted federal deputy in Goiás. He is the political heir of his family in the state. His mother, Maria da Conceição Gayer, was a city councilwoman, state representative, secretary-general of the MDB in Goiás, and founder of the local branch of the now-defunct PDC. His great-grandfather, Plínio Gayer, was a federal deputy.

The Bolsonaro supporter is also a teacher. He owns an English school, Gayer e Gayer Idiomas, founded in July 2013 in Goiânia. One of the congressman's main attacks is directed at teachers, who, according to him, use the school environment to "indoctrinate" students.

Other side

Check out the text posted by Gayer this Wednesday (13) on the social network X in which he comments on his own statements:

Yesterday (March 12, 2025), in the Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, I was the only right-wing parliamentarian who defended Minister Gleisi Hoffmann, who was cowardly belittled and vilified by the President of the Republic. Using extremely sexist and misogynistic language, he referred to the Minister as a kind of bargaining chip to facilitate the Government's political dealings with the National Congress because of her "beauty."

Through social media, I simply questioned Congressman Lindbergh Farias about whether he would accept the repugnant statements made by the President of the Republic regarding his partner Gleisi Hoffmann, denouncing the seriousness of what happened.

I emphasize that my intention was only to denounce and expose the hypocrisy of the left when it comes to defending women, and I never intended to offend or belittle the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre. If President Alcolumbre felt offended, I want to make it very clear that my criticisms did not refer to him, but rather to the Head of the Executive Branch because of his disrespectful attitude towards one of his Ministers.

The fact is that none of the members of the left, whether parliamentarians or ministers, have spoken out against the unfortunate statement made by the President of the Republic, only taking care to divert attention and downplay said disrespect towards women.

I am fully aware that I have not committed any crime or illegal act against any person, having merely exercised my right to freedom of expression, guided by a sense of justice.
