Brasilia 247 - The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Dias Toffoli, confirmed on Saturday morning, the 4th, that there had been an attempted attack on the Court's technological system. However, the minister said that the hackers did not manage to break into the system.

"Attempts to invade happen daily, but they didn't manage to get into the TSE system precisely because our defense system provided protection," he said in a press conference after the ceremony to verify the system that manages the tabulation of results from the electronic ballot boxes.

The purpose of this verification is to confirm whether the digital signature of the ballot box file receiving program is the same as the one used to seal the system. According to court technicians, all analyses confirmed the signature and security of the system.

This same software, before being sealed and distributed to the regional electoral courts, undergoes an audit period that took place between August 26 and September 4. During this phase, the parties that are in the electoral contest, for example, check the software and approve the sealing.

This Sunday, October 5th, nearly 141 million Brazilians will choose their candidates for President of the Republic, governors, senators, and representatives, starting at 8 am, throughout the country. Voting will end at 17 pm local time. Officials responsible for the TSE's technology area affirm that the tallying and release of the results will be done on the same day.
