Toffoli: Barbosa leaves a "positive legacy"

In an interview with columnist Kennedy Alencar, the president of the Superior Electoral Court, José Antonio Dias Toffoli, downplays the climate generated in the Supreme Federal Court during Joaquim Barbosa's tenure; "There has to be a real fight there, otherwise six (ministers) get together, form a majority and decide"; "(Barbosa) is a very severe person in his conduct and in his dealings with people. 247 – The president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), José Antonio Dias Toffoli, downplayed the climate generated in the Supreme Federal Court during Joaquim Barbosa's administration.

"There, it has to be a real fight, otherwise six (ministers) will get together, form a majority and decide," he said.

In an interview with Kennedy Alencar, he says that JB leaves a positive legacy: "He is a very strict person in his conduct and in his dealings with people. And that was sometimes impressive."

When questioned about the situation of José Roberto Arruda, a defendant in the so-called DEM mensalão scandal, he stated that his appeal will be judged by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) before the elections. A candidate for governor of the Federal District for the PR party, his candidacy registration was rejected by the TRE (Regional Electoral Court) last Tuesday, based on the Clean Record Law.
