Supreme Federal Court conducts bomb disposal operation on the eve of Bolsonaro's trial
The sweep is part of an enhanced security plan.
247 - The Supreme Federal Court (STF) is carrying out a bomb sweep this Monday in the First Chamber's room, which will judge, this Tuesday (25), the complaint from the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against Jair Bolsonaro for attempted coup d'état after the 2022 elections.
According to O Globo AgencyThe operation extends to other areas of the five-story building that houses, in addition to the First Chamber, the Second Chamber of the Supreme Federal Court. The sweep is part of a reinforced security scheme, set up especially for the day of the trial.
The charges against Bolsonaro and other defendants from the core group of the coup plot will be judged this Tuesday by the First Panel of the Supreme Court. If a majority of the justices accept the charges, the former president and the other defendants will become defendants and will face criminal proceedings in the Court.
Group 1 consists of the following defendants:
- Jair Bolsonaro - former president of the Republic;
- Walter Braga Netto (Army general, former minister and Bolsonaro's vice-president on the 2022 election ticket;
- General Augusto Heleno (former Minister of the Institutional Security Cabinet);
- Alexandre Ramagem (former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency - Abin);
- Anderson Torres (former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Security of the Federal District);
- Almir Garnier (former Navy commander);
- Paulo Sérgio Nogueira (Army general and former Minister of Defense);
- Mauro Cid (informant and former aide to Bolsonaro).
