Sóstenes threatens Moraes after lawsuit against Malafaia: "be careful"

247 - The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) in the Chamber of Deputies, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), escalated his criticism of Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) after the adoption of precautionary measures against the religious businessman Silas Malafaia. The news was released by CNN Brazil this Wednesday (20).
In a speech on the floor of the Chamber, Sóstenes made a direct threat to the magistrate: "Be careful what you are doing, we will not back down. You can continue persecuting, conducting searches and seizures. I already know that even I could be a target of your actions.""he said.
The congressman accused Moraes of trying "Playing one against the other on the right" by breaking the secrecy of private conversations. According to him, there will be no backing down on the part of his allies: "For every right-wing prisoner, millions will multiply on the streets.", he said.
The reaction comes after a decision by Moraes ordering the seizure of Malafaia's passport and prohibiting his departure from the country. The religious leader was the target of a search and seizure warrant at Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
The measure is part of investigations into the inner circle of former President Jair Bolsonaro, amid suspicions of collusion against Brazilian democracy.
