Seventy-five wild birds are seized in Guará II.

The breeder was registered with Ibama; police suspected he was keeping birds illegally.

Seventy-five wild birds were seized on Thursday (29) at a house in QE 15 in Guará II. The breeder was registered with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), but environmental police suspected that he was keeping birds illegally at home.

Of all the birds found in the house, only eleven had identification codes from the Institute. Police also seized 16 monitoring chips, which were sent to the Institute of Criminalistics, seventy cages, and a trap.

The breeder will be prosecuted for an environmental crime, with a penalty ranging from six months to one year in prison. If it is proven that the leg bands were counterfeit, the penalty will increase, ranging from two to six years.

The birds were taken to the Wildlife Screening Center (CTA), where they will be treated and then returned to their natural habitats.
