Former congressman Marcio Junqueira (formerly of the PP party) was recorded by the Federal Police in a conversation where he explains to his interlocutor how to "buy" someone. "You have to buy them well"; "When you buy someone, if you buy someone, you have to buy them well, because that guy who sold himself to you will sell himself to someone else too," Junqueira said in a conversation with a former municipal secretary of Boa Vista (RR).

Junqueira is being investigated by the Federal Police – and was even arrested – for allegedly trying to buy the silence of a witness in Operation Lava Jato, the former parliamentary advisor for the PP party, José Expedito Rodrigues Almeida, who denounced a scheme of paying bribes to parliamentarians of the party. To the Federal Police, Junqueira responded, without mentioning names, that he was referring to political relations in the Legislative Assembly of Roraima.
