Rui Costa is being considered for the Ministry of Cities, which is expected to be recreated.
Under the Bolsonaro administration, the Ministry of Cities was merged with the Ministry of National Integration, forming the Ministry of Regional Development.
247 - During his vacation in Bahia, President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) formalized, according to the Valor Econômico, the invitation to the state governor, Rui Costa (PT), to join his cabinet starting in 2023.
Costa's likely destination is the Ministry of Cities, a portfolio that is expected to be recreated. Under Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) government, the Ministry of Cities was merged with the Ministry of National Integration, forming the Ministry of Regional Development.
After two terms as governor of Bahia, Costa decided not to run for any elected office. His name is almost certain to be in the top ranks of Lula's government.
Sources close to the president say that he sees Costa as "a successful project manager," according to the newspaper. "Two of the most important PPP contracts in the country advanced during his administration: the Salvador metro and the Itaparica-Salvador bridge."
