Renan: Dallagnol's proposals would only be accepted in a fascist regime.
“Proposals such as informant protection, validation of illegally obtained evidence, and integrity tests would only be accepted in a fascist regime,” stated the president of the National Congress, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL); “The package could not have been approved like this, unless it were a state of exception. It could not have received any other treatment; the package was destined to receive the treatment it received,” declared Renan; this afternoon, members of the Public Prosecutor's Office threatened to resign from the Lava Jato task force if the bill is sanctioned by Michel Temer; the Attorney General, Rodrigo Janot, also reacted, saying that the “10 measures against corruption no longer exist.”
Brasilia 247 – The president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), stated this Wednesday (November 30th) that the anti-corruption package presented by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) to Congress was "doomed" to undergo modifications.
“Proposals such as informant protection, validation of illegally obtained evidence, and integrity tests would only be accepted in a fascist regime,” he stated. These items, however, were considered controversial and had already been removed from the report by the project's rapporteur, Representative Onyx Lorenzoni (DEM-RS).
"(The package) It could not have been approved like that, unless it was a state of emergency. It could not have received any other treatment; the package was destined to receive the treatment it received,” declared Renan. He added that “this is not the democracy we want” in Brazil.
This afternoon, members of the Public Prosecutor's Office threatened to resign from the Lava Jato task force if the bill is approved by Michel Temer.
