Illegal extensions get another year of life.

The deadline for merchants in Asa Sul was originally May 1st; with the postponement, the new date has been set for April 30th, 2013; this is the second postponement of the adjustments.

Brasilia 247 – Initially scheduled for April 2011, the extensions to the buildings in Asa Sul have been given two years to become legal. Last Wednesday, the Legislative Chamber approved the extension of the deadline for regularization.

The bill, authored by the Federal District government, argued that it has not yet been possible to take all the necessary steps to implement Complementary Law No. 766/2008, which established the conditions for the regularization and adaptation of illegal extensions to buildings. In plenary session, Representative Eliana Pedrosa (PSD) presented an amendment excluding establishments that disturb public order from those that can be regularized.

The new regulation stipulates that building blocks must be standardized at the rear – up to six meters – and have a lateral limit of two meters between commercial buildings. In Asa Sul, of the 2,8 open establishments, almost half – 1,2 – are not yet compliant.
