247 - The Workers' Party (PT) has asked the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to remove a section of the debated electoral rules that would allow the boosting, on social media, of posts critical of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government. According to the party, the measure creates an asymmetry in the political contest by authorizing paid attacks on the government without guaranteeing the same mechanism for response to its representatives.

The information was published this Tuesday (3) by newspaper FSPAccording to the party, the text currently under discussion at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) allows for the promotion of content critical of Lula in a sponsored manner, while the president and his allies would be prevented from promoting similar publications against political opponents.

According to the PT (Workers' Party), this regulatory framework compromises the balance of the electoral process, especially during the pre-campaign period. The party argues that, in practice, it is not possible to rigidly separate political demonstrations prior to the official election calendar from the actual contest that is projected for the ballot box.

In a letter sent to Minister Nunes Marques, vice-president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) and rapporteur of the draft electoral resolutions, the party argued that criticisms made by pre-candidates for public office are already directly linked to the electoral process. "Every criticism formulated by a pre-candidate for public office during this period is inevitably associated with the upcoming election; otherwise, there would be no reason for specific regulations governing pre-campaign practices," the PT (Workers' Party) stated in the document.

In addition to questioning the boosting of political content, the party also presented suggestions related to combating the misuse of artificial intelligence in campaigns. The party advocated for greater speed in removing materials suspected of having been produced or manipulated with the aid of technology.

According to the proposal presented to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), content showing evidence of AI use should be immediately removed from the air if there are no "minimum elements capable of proving the organic nature of the propaganda." For the PT (Workers' Party), the measure is necessary to prevent the spread of disinformation and protect the integrity of the electoral process in the face of increasingly sophisticated technological tools.
