Evidence contradicts testimony of "Bald Man" from INSS, says president of Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry.
Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes is in jail on suspicion of leading a billion-dollar scheme to embezzle funds from retirees and pensioners.
247 - The president of the INSS Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, Senator Carlos Viana (PL-MG), criticized the testimony of Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as "Careca do INSS," currently imprisoned on suspicion of leading a billion-dollar scheme to embezzle funds from retirees and pensioners. The embezzlement at the National Institute of Social Security resulted in an estimated loss of R$ 6,3 billion over five years, between 2019 and 2024, according to investigations by the Federal Police and the Comptroller General of the Republic.
“He has every right to say that he doesn’t know anyone, that he didn’t participate in meetings. But the information doesn’t correspond to what he’s stating in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry,” Viana said about Antunes. “He’s in jail, but there’s no case for an arrest warrant in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry. The investigated party is being investigated within the Constitution, and everything he says will be confronted with the evidence and documents we have.”
In Congress, the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI) is composed of 16 full members of the Chamber of Deputies and 16 members of the Senate, with an equal number of alternates. The request to create the commission was submitted on May 12th, and its establishment took place the following month.
