247 - The lack of transparency in the Bolsonaro government has reached the level of state policy. The government has increased the secrecy surrounding documents requested through the Access to Information Law (LAI). The decision was made by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU).

The report from the G1 portal It highlights that “from now on, all legal opinions issued by all ministries and sent to guide the Presidency of the Republic in the sanctioning or vetoing of projects approved in Congress are considered confidential. According to a report in the newspaper “O Globo” published this Monday (8), the new understanding of the CGU served to block access to the veto suggestions sent by the ministries to President Jair Bolsonaro at the end of last year, when he sanctioned the abuse of authority project.”

The article also recalls that “at the time, the then Minister of Justice and Public Security, Sergio Moro, and the CGU itself recommended vetoing part of the text from Congress. Bolsonaro, however, did not accept all the suggestions and vetoed 36 of the 108 provisions of the text. Moro was against the sections of the law that created the figure of the "judge of guarantees". The law was sanctioned in December without meeting the minister's demand.”
