Brazilian Federal Police arrest Daniel "Activist," leader of a pro-Bolsonaro encampment with Sara Winter.
The arrest of Daniel Miguel, who identifies as Daniel the Activist and was a member of the pro-Bolsonaro "300 do Brasil" encampment, occurred within the scope of investigations into pro-coup acts. The Federal Police action was authorized by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.
247 - The Federal Police arrested this Tuesday (23) Daniel Miguel, who calls himself Daniel Ativista, former leader, along with Sara Winter, of the '300 do Brasil' camp, of the pro-Bolsonaro paramilitary militia that had set up in Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasília (DF) - a group that had already been dismantled by police agents. The arrest took place within the scope of the investigation into pro-coup acts, with the main proposals being the closure of Congress and the Supreme Federal Court.
The camp member had an arrest warrant issued against him by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes on the 14th, but the warrant was only served this Tuesday, after Daniel appeared at the Federal Police headquarters to give a statement.
Brazilian congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP) criticized the arrest. "Activist Daniel Miguel went to cooperate by giving testimony to the Federal Police. However, upon arriving there, he was arrested based on the investigation into 'anti-democratic acts' presided over by @alexandre de Moraes. He is already the 4th political prisoner in Brazil during this pandemic. His temporary detention could last 5+5 days," the congressman wrote on Twitter.
