The president of the Senate Ethics Council, João Alberto Souza (PMDB-MA), received today (8) an appeal against his decision to dismiss the representation against Senator Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR) for breach of parliamentary decorum.
The complaint was filed by the PDT party due to the publication in the press of audios in which the senator spoke with the former president of Transpetro, Sérgio Machado, about the need to "stop the bleeding" caused by Operation Lava Jato and made plans to promote a "grand national pact" for this purpose.
João Alberto decided to dismiss the complaint based on an opinion from the Senate's legal counsel, which pointed out formal errors, such as the lack of presentation of documents, witnesses, and suggestions of evidence that could support the case.
Senators João Capiberibe (PSB-AP), Vanessa Grazziotin (PCdoB-AM), Telmário Mota (PDT-RR), Ângela Portela (PT-RR), Regina Sousa (PT-PI), and Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) signed the appeal. There is no deadline for João Alberto Souza to submit the appeal to the full council.
