New director dismisses 51 in the Civil Police.

Changes are normal during leadership transitions, but delegates believe this was excessive. The names of the replacements have not yet been announced.

Noelle Oliveira_ Brasília 247 – As expected, it wasn't just the appointment of delegate Onofre de Moraes as director-general of the Civil Police of the Federal District that showed, this Thursday (3), that the government's intention is to promote major changes in the corporation's command. The Official Gazette of this Thursday published the dismissal of 51 chief delegates and directors of specialized departments of the Civil Police. A significant part of the top leadership of the DF Civil Police has fallen. According to the delegates, the changes, common in changes of government, had never happened on such a large scale during the same administration. It remains to be seen how the new head of the Civil Police, who has been in the corporation for 33 years, will reorganize the leadership. Among those dismissed are long-serving delegates of the Civil Police, such as Adval Cardoso de Matos, who has been in the corporation for 23 years and commanded the 10th DP, in Lago Sul; João Carlos Lóssio, who previously headed the 11th Police Station (Núcleo Bandeirante) and was currently the head of the Tax Crimes Division; and Antônio José Romeiro, who is leaving the Department of Strategic Affairs of the Civil Police. The shock at the scale of the changes led the delegates to meet late Thursday afternoon. However, they declined to comment on the meeting. The press office of the Public Security Secretariat of the Federal District (SSP/DF) stated that the changes are normal and due to government adjustments. Delegates appearing on the list of dismissals said they were apprehensive but did not venture guesses about the changes. "It's always like this, but Onofre is very respected among us, I believe he will make the right choices," said one of the delegates in transition. Others, however, were outraged. After the new leadership takes over, all delegates will be reappointed retroactively. Services at the affected police stations continue normally. The Civil Police did not comment on the matter. Deputy Wellington Luís (PPL), a member of the government's base in the Legislative Chamber and a former Civil Police officer, was one of those who approved the new name for the leadership. "Onofre is a police officer who knows the institution well and will be able to revamp it," he assessed. While the corporation reorganizes itself, the Civil Police strike completes eight days. In the late afternoon, the category, once again, rejected the proposal from the DF government.
