In the Federal District (Brasília), the use of masks outdoors is no longer mandatory.

The mandatory use of face masks remains in effect in all enclosed public spaces, including concerts and public transportation.

Agency Brazil - Protective masks are no longer mandatory outdoors throughout the Federal District starting today. The decision was published in... Official Gazette of the Federal District, after the Covid-19 transmission rate reached its lowest level since the beginning of the pandemic. The transmission rate is at 0,66, meaning that one hundred infected people transmit the virus to another 66 people.

The lifting of the mask mandate had already been anticipated by the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, with the amendment to Decree No. 40.648/2020. “Given the drop in Covid-19 cases in the Federal District, we have relaxed the mask mandate in open spaces. We are gradually returning to normal. Don't forget to get vaccinated,” the governor stated on his social media.

The decree mandates the use of face masks in all enclosed public spaces, public transportation, commercial, industrial and service establishments, and in common areas of residential and commercial buildings.

The use of masks will also be mandatory at shows and sporting events in closed venues, where proof of vaccination with at least two doses will also be required. The measure will take effect next Monday (7).

Currently, in the Federal District (DF), 88,99% of the target population has been vaccinated with the first dose, 79,82% with the second dose, and 32,85% with the booster dose.
