Fines for not wearing seatbelts increase by 158% in the Federal District.

According to the Director of Policing and Enforcement, Frederico Abraham, this infraction is among the six most frequent, in addition to disrespecting pedestrian crossings, not using child car seats, disobeying speed limits, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving while using a cell phone.

Failure to wear a seatbelt is considered a serious offense under the National Traffic Code. Drivers caught violating this rule are fined R$ 127,69 and have five points added to their National Driver's License (CNH).
