Moraes authorizes visits to Fernando Collor during house arrest.
The Supreme Court sentenced the former congressman to eight years and ten months in prison.
247 - Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized former president Fernando Collor de Mello to receive visits in house arrest this Thursday (9).
The Brazilian Supreme Court sentenced the former congressman in 2023 to eight years and ten months in prison, initially under a closed regime. Collor was accused of the crimes of passive corruption and money laundering for his involvement in a corruption scheme.
In May 2025, Moraes authorized Collor to serve his sentence under house arrest. According to the minister, the former president's defense proved that he suffers from serious illnesses.
Moraes' decision allows meetings with businessmen Antônio Márcio Britto Rapôso, Mônica de Oliveira Haddad, and Nadim Haddad, between 10 am and 18 pm, "observing the legal and judicial determinations previously established."
