Agency Board - The summons for the election of the new president of the Chamber of Deputies, to be held next Thursday (14), at 16 pm, was read this afternoon in the Chamber's plenary. Interested deputies may register their candidacies with the General Secretariat of the Board until noon on that date.

The election will be secret and will take place through an electronic system. For a quorum to be reached, a majority of deputies must be present at the session (257 out of 513 parliamentarians). The new president will be elected in the first round if they obtain an absolute majority of the votes; that is, if 257 deputies are present, at least 129 votes are needed.

If no candidate reaches that number, there will be a second round between the two candidates with the most votes. In this case, a simple majority of votes will be enough to elect the new Speaker of the House.

The elected candidate will replace the suspended congressman Eduardo Cunha, who announced his resignation earlier this afternoon.
