Mansur is the 5th to run for president of the Chamber.
First Secretary of the House, Representative Beto Mansur (PRB-SP), wants to replace his ally Eduardo Cunha until February 2017; he is the fifth to present his candidacy, after Marcelo Castro (PMDB-PI), Carlos Manato, Carlos Henrique Gaguim, and Fausto Pinato.
247 - Congressman Beto Mansur (PRB-SP) presented his name this Friday, the 8th, as a candidate for president of the Chamber of Deputies. The elected congressman will replace Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), who resigned from the position yesterday, in a "transitional mandate" until February 2017.
Mansur, who is a member of Michel Temer's allied base, said on Thursday that the new Speaker of the House needs to be someone committed to the economic measures that have been presented by the Presidential Palace.
He is the fifth candidate to present himself for the contest, which will take place next Thursday, the 14th. Before him, former Health Minister Marcelo Castro (PMDB-PI), the House Inspector General Carlos Manato (SD-ES), Carlos Henrique Gaguim (PTN-TO), and Fausto Pinato (PP-SP) registered.
